PFUJ slams attack on journalist Sami Ibrahim

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the cowardly attack on journalist and anchor Sami Ibrahim, who was attacked and beaten in Islamabad in front of BOL News office as he headed home.

Reportedly unknown plainclothes individuals tried to kidnap Ibrahim but failed.

PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi said, “this is a cowardly act of those who cannot face constructive criticism and have the dictatorial and authoritarian mindset.”

They called for the immediate registration of an FIR against unknown culprits. “We demand arrest of criminals without delay as this cannot be tolerated.”

PFUJ leadership said that high-handedness and such incidents could not silence the sane voices in this country, and PFUJ will take a much stricter stand if the attackers of Sami Ibrahim are not arrested.
